Overview
The Billboard Music Awards are honors given out annually by Billboard, a publication covering the music business and a music popularity chart. The Billboard Music Awards show had been held annually since 1990, with the exception of the years 2007 through 2010. The event was formerly staged in December but since returning in 2011, it has been held in May.

The 2015 Billboard Music Awards ceremony was held on May 17, 2015, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It was aired live on ABC. The show was hosted by Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen. Taylor Swift won 8 out of her 14 nominations, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album for 1989.
2016 Billboard Music Awards
The 2016 Billboard Music Awards ceremony was held on May 22, 2016, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the first nationally televised event to originate from that venue. It aired live on ABC with hosts Ludacris and Ciara.
2017 Billboard Music Awards

2018 Billboard Music Awards
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards ceremony was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 20, 2018. It was the first ceremony to be broadcast on NBC. The list of nominees were announced on April 17, 2018. The show was hosted by Kelly Clarkson and was sponsored by Xfinity, Pepsi, T-Mobile, Uber, and 23andMe.
2019 Billboard Music Awards
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards ceremony was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 1, 2019. It aired live on NBC and was hosted by Kelly Clarkson for a second year in a row. The list of nominees were announced on April 4, 2019. Mariah Carey received the Icon Award during the show.
2020 Billboard Music Awards
The 2020 Billboard Music Awards were held on Wednesday October 14, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony was broadcast live from NBC. Hosted by Kelly Clarkson for the third year in a row, the ceremony was sponsored by TikTok and Xfinity.

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards were held on May 15, 2022, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Hosted by Sean "Diddy" Combs, the show aired live on NBC and was also available for streaming on Peacock. Nominations across 62 categories—for releases during the period dated April 10, 2021 to March 26, 2022—were announced online through Twitter on April 8, 2022.
2023 Billboard Music Awards
The 2023 Billboard Music Awards were held on November 19, 2023. The show aired live on Billboard's website and social media pages. Nominations across 71 categories—for releases during the period dated to November 19, 2022, through October 21, 2023—were announced online on October 26, 2023. Taylor Swift received the most nominations of any artist, with 20. Morgan Wallen was awarded the most honors of the night, with 11 wins followed by Swift who won 10 awards.
2024 Billboard Music Awards
The 31st Billboard Music Awards will take place on December 12, 2024. Hosted by Michelle Buteau and presented by Marriott Bonvoy, the event will be live streamed on Paramount+ and broadcast on Fox and Amazon Fire TV at 8:00 Eastern Time and Pacific Time. Performances will be live streamed on Billboard's official website and social media accounts.
